Named after towns and provinces of the highlands where they originate, Ethiopian crosses are either
cast by the lost wax method or cut directly from Maria Theresa silver alloy dollars. The crosses range in style from
the simplistic Greek or Latin crucifix to the more elaborate that feature flared arms, trefoils, complex openwork and florid
patterns of interlacing lines.. Hinges and crowns indicate the later influence of 19th century European medals.
See Africa Adorned by Angela Fisher to learn more about Ethiopian crosses.
* Please note that all crosses are hinged. Neclace length is approximately 22" from bottom of cross to clasp. Clasps
are adjustable by 1 1/2".
